In 1999, the pianist started developing historical research about Brazilian rhythms and composers, on which she based her concerts. Amongst her most successful concerts are “O Samba e suas Historias” (“The History of Samba”) and “Nada sera como antes” (“Nothing will be like before”). “Nada sera como antes” was based on one of the most fascinating Brazilian singers, Elis Regina and directed by Luiz Carlos Miele. The concert “O Samba e suas Historias” was presented in England, Portugal end Germany.
Rita Geaquinto launched her first album, “De namoro com o Samba” (“In love with Samba”) in 2004. Besides being a product of her research, the album presents a different line-up from the traditional samba gatherings by showing most of Samba styles. Rita plays and sings with guests and preserves all the originality and characteristics of the samba as the most expressive rhythm of Brazilian culture. |
