In
July 1996 Alberto Jahsie released his acclaimed debut album
Dignité. It was recorded in Paris, Berlin and Brazil,
with the musical collaboration of Rui Braga on keyboards,
Lazaro Negrume (Gilberto Gil, Olodum) on electric bass,
Jose Carlos (Carlinhos Brown) on drums, and other prominent
musicians. Produced by himself and Heidrun Kippenberger.
Before settling in London, Alberto Jahsie lived in various

MIND
YOUR FIRE is the title of his current album that was recorded
in Nov/Dec 99 in London with, amongst others, a performance
by Victor Mensah (Osibisa) on keyboards & soundengineering
and Pamela (John Lennon) on backing vocals.
In his AFRO-BRAZILIAN REGGAE, the fundamental is ROOT
REGGAE; containing other musical elements such as
ljexá, highlife, funk etc., which originally
come from MAMA AFRICA.
The lyrics are composed in 'Pretoguês' (an afro-portuguese
language, used in Bahia), in English and in his own
language.
Alberto reflects spirituality and the fight against
the terrible, lethal lethargy of the human race.
