On Valentine's Day 2000, Sandro Nascimento hijacked a bus in the Jardim Botantic district of Rio de Janeiro; taking hostage of the passengers and provoking a police standoff that was broadcasted live on television for four and a half hours. The documentary also explores the background of hijacker, a street kid who not only witnessed the murder of his mother but had also survived a massacre of homeless children.

CARANDIRU.DOC

Dir: Rita Buzzar, Brazil, 2002, 54 minutes.

A meditation on the relationship among reality, documentary and fiction, from the shootings of the former feature film Carandiru, directed by Hector Babenco. The crew found the contrasting views of extras about the fictional reconstruction of reality, as they found out that most of them had been former inmates -or their relatives- of the Detention House in Sao Paolo, the stage of the 1992 October massacre.
